Two Sisters – A Dialogue
Act 2
(The curtain rises. Chloe, Clara’s identical twin sister, is visiting. She speaks.)
“Well, as long as I’m here, you might as well show me around. What is this place where we are right now?”
“I’ve never seen this before, Chloe. It is very strange . . . every new sandstorm seems to cover up things I’ve seen and uncover something new to explore. The desert is eternal . . . yet always changing.”
“Changing? It is just sand as far as my eye can see. How on earth can you be happy here – living alone like this?”
“It is not so bad – there is the occasional lizard or scorpion passing by for excitement. Chloe, I think I’ve become like the ascetics of long ago. I’ve even begun to meditate and travel to new places using visions within my mind.”
“Meditate! Visions! What exactly have you been eating out here in this wilderness? When are you going to come to your senses, grow up, and assume your responsibilities as a Bactrian camel?”
“Ommmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!”
“What are you doing now?”
“I’m meditating . . . to block negative thoughts from entering my space. Ommmmmmmmm!”
“Negative thoughts? Where are they coming from?”
“From you, Chloe . . . from you. Ommmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!”
(The curtain falls once more on our contemplative camel.)
“Ommmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm – ouch!”
